Betting licence check Nigeria: Lagos operator evidence

Start with the state and product, then match the official row to the legal entity, trade name, displayed dates and exact domain used by the account journey.

Bottom line: The Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority list is a Lagos source. It is not a shortcut to a nationwide licence claim.

Is BetExplorer a licensed bookmaker in Nigeria?

First distinguish BetExplorer's information service from a bookmaker reached through a link. BetExplorer's current terms, reviewed on 13 September 2026, describe sports information and odds comparison; section 2.7 says it does not operate gambling or handle gambling transactions. A BetExplorer account is therefore not, by itself, a betting account with a Nigerian operator.

Our check of the Lagos operator register on the same date did not find the name BetExplorer. That does not establish that viewing an information website is illegal: a bookmaker licence list is not a register of every sports-information service. If you follow a link to place a bet, check that destination's operator, product and applicable state authorisation separately using the workflow below.

The source does not provide a separate campaign-domain field for these rows. A trade name resembling a domain is not enough to match every tracker, mirror or registration route.

Six-step state-first workflow

1. Identify the relevant state and product

Write down the player’s location, the product being checked and the authority whose list you opened. Do not begin with the bookmaker badge or an affiliate claim.

2. Open the primary source

Use the authority’s own page. Save the full URL and access date. Search-engine snippets, social posts and copied comparison tables are discovery aids, not the final evidence.

3. Copy the row exactly

Record:

• legal entity;
• trade name;
• category or product;
• start and end dates;
• spelling or date irregularities visible in the source.

Do not silently repair a source row. A future start date, ended period or impossible date needs an explicit note and a recheck.

4. Match the actual domain separately

Open the intended registration path and record the final hostname after redirects. Then find the legal entity and terms displayed in that flow. The official row and the route observation are two separate pieces of evidence.

On 31 August 2026, the configured 1xBet tracker redirected a Lagos probe to 1xbet.ng, and the final route returned HTTP 200. The BetWinner tracker returned HTTP 200 from Lagos. Those results prove reachability from the measured network, not licence scope.

5. Check the account and payment identity

Before funding, compare the account currency, beneficiary/provider, support route and any legal-name view with the record you are building. A bank transfer can prove that money moved to a named recipient; it does not decide a sportsbook settlement or licence question.

6. Preserve and recheck

Save a redacted copy of the row, domain, date and support response. Reopen the primary source before publishing a ranking change or making a material deposit decision.

How to read difficult rows

The displayed period has ended

Report that the source still displays a historical row and name the printed end date. Do not convert it into a current-status claim.

The displayed start date is in the future

Report it as future-dated on the source and recheck after the stated date. Do not present future-dated publication as current evidence.

The brand is not found

Record the source URL, access date, search terms and result. Not found by this method does not prove that no other state or legal route exists.

The brand is found but the domain is not

Treat the row and domain as unmatched until another primary document or the official account flow connects them. Do not guess from a logo or similar name.

What to ask support

Ask through the support route inside the verified account:

1. Which legal entity operates this exact domain for my account?
2. Which state or authority record applies to this product?
3. Where is the current written rule for NGN deposits, KYC and withdrawals?
4. What reference should be used for a payment or settlement complaint?

Request a written answer that can be attached to the case timeline. Never send a PIN, OTP, password, complete BVN/NIN or full bank history.
